ranging from toys to sports and recreation products. It
also provides useful information sheets on how to make
sure you’re buying safe products.
Consumers’ Union
Consumers' Union is an independent, nonprofit
organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just
and safe marketplace for all consumers, and to empower
consumers to protect themselves. The group publishes
ratings on consumer products in their magazine, Consumer
Reports.
Safe Kids Worldwide
An international network of organizations that work to
prevent accidental childhood injuries.

Food and Drug Administration
The FDA regulates medicine,
medical devices, cosmetics,
along with food additives, packaging, labeling and
ingredients.
The Cochrane Collaboration
This group publishes “gold standard” reviews of medical
research on the safety and effectiveness of drugs and
medical interventions, with “plain language” summaries
of the findings.
Research on Adverse Drug Events and Reports (RADAR)
RADAR is a team of 25 doctors who receive calls about
possible adverse drug reactions and conduct
investigations. RADAR is based at Northwestern
University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and the
Department of Veterans Affairs Center for Management of
Complex Chronic Care at the Jesse Brown VA Medical
Center, Chicago.

National Highway Transportation and Safety Agency
This agency regulates traffic safety and equipment,
including baby and child seats and tires.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
This group researches highway safety issues and makes
recommendations on improving the safety of automobiles
and safety products inside automobiles, including child
seats.
